Greetings! This is the first national and international newsletter for some time, announcing and summarizing the program of events and publishing for 2007 and beyond.

Workshops in 2007 include:

1. Gate Openings/Lineage of Zadok and the Fire Temple: This is the major new program of workshops in the USA and Britain.

3. The Cord of Life and Death: advanced Cord series on death and continuity between lives. Not suitable for new students.

4. The Way of Merlin, the Prophet, the Goddess, and the Land: A new workshop, based on my book first published in 1990.

5. Fiona Macleod’s Runes of Power: an exploration of the remarkable system of spiritual magic in the works of Fiona Macleod.

6. Celebrating the Male Mysteries: from my book first published in 1980, plus new material!

7. Faery and UnderWorld Magic: Power at the Crossroads: a new series created to meet repeated requests from workshop groups and organizers. (Related books are: The Well of Light, 2007 edition, UnderWorld Initiation, Earth Light, Power within the Land).

Teacher Training, Tours, and Intensives in 2007

The Gate Opening/Lineage of Zadok workshops: A series of Gate Openings, based on new developments and expansions of material originally imparted to me by the Glastonbury adept, Ronald Heaver (1900-1980). We will experience attunement to the powerful inner spiritual lineage of the Fire Temple, poetically called “Zadok”. The workshops have an alchemical aspect, preparing essences and substances imbued with spiritual forces, for transformation of both body and consciousness. The Gate Opening events are a new advance in the Inner Temple Traditions and Inner Convocation work that I have taught in Britain and the USA from 1989 to the present day.

Teacher Training, Inner Temple Traditions InnerConvocation ™ ®

There is more to these Inner Temple gatherings and convocations in May and November 2007 than teacher training, and there are many reasons why you might wish to join. If you feel that committing to teaching is not for you, you may still find much to benefit you in these intensives. There will be two intensive training retreats, at The StarHouse near Boulder, www.thestarhouse.org, on Memorial Day weekend May 25-28 inclusive and Veteran’s day weekend November 9-12 inclusive. The retreats are for people who wish to go more deeply into the hidden aspects of Inner Temple Inner Convocation work, and for those who have committed to a number of workshops in the past and wish to teach in the future. These intensives are also essential for those who are already Inner Temple Traditions teachers, to bring them up to date on new developments and techniques. If you wish to apply, please contact me via email. Application does not guarantee a place.

Inner Temple Traditions InnerConvocation ™ ® is a registered trade mark and service mark for the classes, publications, texts, and recordings of R J Stewart worldwide.

Hawkwood College, England, September 14-17

There will be a fully residential retreat at Hawkwood College, sponsored by Caitlin Matthews’ FIOS group. Join us for Elemental Chanting, an evening concert, and a cycle of Gate Opening/Lineage of Zadok ceremonies. We expect this event to be full long before September, so book early! For all bookings: call Hawkwood College, 01144 1453 759034 or email: . For content: email Caitlín Matthews on  or write to BCM Hallowquest, London WC1N 3XX, U.K.

Plus: A Tour of Ancient Sites in Cotswolds and North Devon September 17-24

Following the Hawkwood retreat is a one-week tour of ancient sites in the Cotswolds, Somerset, and remote sites in North Devon, coordinated by British tour agent Nigel Breen (www.nigelbreen.com ). We will visit sacred sites and power places that were influential in the early years of my magical life, including a remote Crossroads where I lived in the late 1960’s. North Devon has many standing stones and ancient sites that are not visited by tourists. It also has historic houses, inns, and hotels, so I expect this tour to be special in many ways.  Numbers are limited to 15 people. Please book early to secure a place. To join, email: , or call Nigel on +44 [0]1736 366755. Or UK cell phone: 07818 453017.

Publishing news!

As a professional writer and recording artist, I (like many others) have struggled for years with the publishing industry. My books have been published by Harper Collins and Penguin, and by smaller publishers, such as Destiny Books or New Page. I have been fortunate to associate with wonderful editors who believed in my work, which has been translated worldwide, but less fortunate in other respects. I have been blessed with encouragement and support, and stressed by the repeated failure of some (not all) publishing houses to honor contracts. Many writers suffer from such problems within the publishing industry, especially with accounting and payment of royalties. Such has been my experience over the years, with more than 40 books in publication in various languages.

After lengthy and deep discussions with a group of other writers and artists, I made the decision in 2006 to start a new author-friendly fully independent publishing house. Here is our opening announcement:

“Announcing a new publishing and recording venture: R J Stewart Books. R J Stewart Books is an independent publishing house, registered in Colorado, California, and Virginia. Books are printed and published simultaneously in the US and UK, and distributed nationally by Ingrams or associated distributors. Bookstores can order direct from the distributors at normal trade discount. For the individual reader and listener we supply books and CDs to customers by direct mail order, often at discount, from www.rjstewart.net . Our authors and recording artists include Caitlin Matthews (new CD, Earth’s Deep Well in the Wildwood), Orion Foxwood (new book and CD The Faery Teachings), Peter Berry (new CD, Durdabhla, Irish poems and tales with harp), and exclusive reprints and new books and CDs from R J Stewart.  Additionally we act as distributors for selected titles, such as books by Dion Fortune and Gareth Knight, from Thoth Publications (UK) in the USA.  For 2007 and 2008 we have a growing list of publications and recordings with remarkable new and established authors and recording artists, so please see www.rjstewart.net for announcements and new titles.”

(Please note: R J Stewart Books is not operated by R J Stewart in person: to contact the book production team or mail-order office, please )

Recent reprints: The Well of Light: 2007 also sees the reprint of The Well of Light, From Faery Healing to Earth Healing, (book and CD, R J Stewart Books). Reprints with other publishers include a new edition of the classic Celtic Gods, Celtic Goddesses, a revised edition of Living Magical Arts, and a 30th anniversary edition of my first book, Where is St George? Pagan Imagery in English Folksong.

NEW BOOK: THE SPIRIT CORD . The Spirit Cord is my latest book, published in the winter of 2006. This book is volume 1 of the sacro-magical practices taught in the Cord workshop series. Volume 2, The Cord of Life and Death, is currently in preparation, for publication in late 2007.

Music and Recording: Caitlin Matthews new CD, Deep Well in the Wildwood, will be available in April 2007. Many of Caitlin’s original highly evocative songs are featured, plus some medieval and traditional songs, and two Shaker hymns. The songs are arranged with a variety of instruments including 83 stringed psaltery, cittern, tsouras, guitar, Native American and Irish flutes, bass, keyboards, digeridoo and percussion. I found producing and recording this CD highly visionary and inspiring, and I am sure that you will find it so, when you hear it. Copies are available from www.rjstewart.net in the USA.

Media news: In the spring, the History Channel will be airing a documentary on Prophecy and Oracles. I had a pleasant time in Burbank in the summer of 2006, filming interviews about the medieval Prophecies of Merlin, Thomas Rhymer, the Sybil at Delphi and at Cumeae, and the relationship between prophecy and apocalyptic vision.

Website news and on-line Discussion Lists: New articles are appearing on our websites, some originally published in various magazines, others written specifically for the websites and not available elsewhere. A new feature, soon to be available, is material drawn from our successful and vigorous online discussion lists. You can access and join the discussion lists from a link at http://www.rjstewart.org/email.html . My thanks to all the list members, who now total around 1,000 for building the lists into an on-line discussion community.

With good wishes to you all, and I look forward to meeting you again at a workshop, concert, or event, in 2007.
